If you feel lost in your leadership...

Just a little reminder that your leadership journey isn't going to be linear, you'll have highs and lows and that's 1000000% normal. As long as you keep going legend. You got this.

If you're feeling lost in your leadership, here's 10 things I wanted to share with you:

  1. You're Not Alone
Every leader, even the most experienced, has felt overwhelmed or uncertain at times. It's part of the journey. Think of some of your FAVOURITE songs - and I'm sure there's a good collab in there (You've Got The Dirtee Love anyone?). Working with others, leveraging their talents and contributing yours, and getting the support you need is going to be a HUGE game changer for your leadership career By reaching out to mentors, joining programs, expanding your network, or simply sharing your experiences with peers, you can gain insights and build your confidence.
  2. Learning From Mistakes
Failure isn't a sign of weakness or incompetence, but a natural part of growth. Every mistake is an opportunity for learning and development. Embrace these moments, reflect on what went wrong and use these lessons to become a stronger leader.
  3. The Power of Small Wins
Don't underestimate the power of small victories. They accumulate over time and lead to significant change. Every meeting that ends on a good note, every project completed, every successful decision—it's all a step up. Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small it may seem.
  4. The Journey, Not Just The Destination
Leadership is not an end goal, but a continuous journey of learning, evolving, and adapting. You're not expected to be perfect from the start so just breathe, don't rush. Take your time to invest in yourself, don't compromise on your personal growth for the sake of a task.
  5. Building Your Unique Leadership Style
There's no one-size-fits-all approach to leadership. What works for one leader might not work for you. It's about discovering and embracing your unique leadership style and using that to influence and inspire your team. When you're being your true style, that's what becomes magnetic because it allows others to trust you, to feel safe with you and to follow your lead.
  6. The Power of Listening
Great leaders listen more than they speak. They value others' perspectives and use this feedback to improve their leadership. You don't have to have all the answers, but you should be willing to hear them.
  7. Prioritise Personal Growth
Leadership is as much about leading yourself as it is about leading others. Personal growth, self-care, and continued learning are essential components of effective leadership. One of the biggest mistakes I see is when leaders think that their own growth is a task or a chore - rather than an investment. That's when leaders get stuck in a cycle that limits their potential and stunts their growth (see more over here on this).
  8. Embrace Vulnerability
Authentic leaders are not afraid to show vulnerability. It doesn’t make you weak; in fact, it humanises you and fosters trust within your team.
  9. Embracing Change
Change is the only constant. Embracing change and being agile is a key leadership skill. It's okay if the plan has to evolve; what's important is that you're able to adapt and guide your team through it.
  10. You've Got This
Believe in yourself. Confidence is built over time, with each decision and action you take. Remember, your journey as a leader has only just begun. You've got this!
